When we were asked to be part of Gabby Young & Other Animals’ Koko gig, we were absolutely thrilled! Big fans already of not just the amazing music but Gabby’s fantastic mermaid-esque style, we were super excited to see the band live for the first time. We popped up our stall and were warmed up by Marcella & The Forget Me Nots. Marcella “sings of monstrous movie starlets & manifestations of the devil in the Italian countryside accompanied by a six-piece rock’n’roll orchestra”, giving an energetic performance.

We had a chance to sample the face painting skills of Karen of Raingold Faces. She whipped up some mermaid make up inspired by Felicity’s Paperself eyelashes. We wish we could have Karen at Now, Voyager HQ everyday-she’s fantastic!

Gabby Young & Other Animals graced the stage. They were completely captivating-twisting & mixing up album songs and treating us with new tunes, accompanied by circus acts, 1920s flapper style dancers & a choir…You would think that this might overshadow the band but to the contrary, they complimented the music perfectly. We were enthralled and loved entering Gabby’s world, dancing along & enjoying the sing along to one of our fav songs ‘Whose House’.

Gabby had two outfit changes-fabulous dresses by Darkest Star & Inbar Spector. Her fabulous, sparkly make-up by artist Jennifer Nash. You can check The outfits & make-up out in the videos below!

After the show we were thrilled to finally meet Gabby-exactly as lovely as she seems! We snapped a pic with Felicity, Gabby & her stylist Katie, author of blog London Plinth, which is always a great read. We will look forward to her next London gig. Gabby Young & Other Animals are the type of band that you could see over & over, never having enough eyes to take it all in!

A whole night dedicated to glamour?! We didn’t need any convincing, we were there! Following the black & white dress code was a little tough for Felicity, her wardrobe being a bit of a rainbow!-but she found one black & white number hiding amongst metallic party dresses. The National Portrait Gallery’s theme was ‘NPG Film Studios’, inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood-a perfect compliment to their exhibition ‘Glamour of the Gods’!

We walked in to the cocktail lounge, greeted with tunes spun by fab DJ duo The Broken Hearts. It was lovely to see Amber & Nisha in action, dressed ultra glam as per usual! We ran into the lovely Maria, who you may recognise from recently modelling for us at our first catwalk show for Shoreditch Unbound. As we headed upstairs, we saw Illamasqua in full swing-offering hollywood alter ego make overs. We are slightly obsessed with their YouTube channel-amazing make up tutorials!

Walking into one of the rooms hidden amongst the glorious NPG, we stumbled upon Sarah Jane’s Vintage Twitter Bureau in full swing, convincing guests to reveal their most glamorous & scandalous aspirations to the vintage typewriter.

We next came across the ‘Walk of Fame’, where we were greeted and given our film star names. Felicity was re-named Claudia Drewes-a sophisticated lady & Anthony was Oliver Winchester-an action hero! Fake identities stickered, we added our hand prints to the ‘Walk of Fame’ and headed back to the cocktail lounge to watch some great performances, our favourite being Fabulous Russella’s ”40s take on a 21st century RuPaul”. Oh, what a glamorous night!

Glamorous kisses (on both cheeks!)

Back in our regular spot at Vintage Vogue, Brentwood we had extra help on hand so that we could take full advantage of this rather special shopping opportunity with the lovely Rayna Terror…

We were happy to have a route through the new-old frocks at Togged to the Bricks, pick out vintage style cards at Artpix and have a quick snap at Retro Photostudio.

Our favourite thing about Vintage Vogue has got to be the large selection of 50s dresses so adorable they make your heart do a light flip-flop! We oohed & ahhed over pretty dresses with bold summer prints- fruits, florals, tea cups…

We will look forward to being back at Vintage Vogue Sunday 2nd October!

The excitement of Will & Kate’s impending nuptials crept up on us slowly, but by the morning of the 29th and the Leonard Street Party with The Book Club, we were like kiddy winks on Christmas Eve, positively buzzing!
As we arrived to set up as part of Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair, we were greeted by a winding queue of people equally as excited! The queue featured an odd, beautiful assortment of brides, grooms, 40s vixens, union jack outfits, pearly kings & queens…all enthusiastically waving the British flag!

Judy (THE Judy of Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair) managed to get all the key colours of the day into her glamorous Hazel of Rag & Bow is pictured with her, sporting a veil. The lady of the hour, the lovely Loriann (pictured pretty in pink, above) was surrounded by an entourage by happy attendees, wishing to thank the lady who came up with the idea of the Royal Wedding Leonard Street Party and made it happen. The press were keen to capture the height of Royal Wedding party style-Rimmel London & Grazia pinched some of our happy customers for a quick snap.

The selection of Judy’s stalls included Love Ur Look-vintage-inspired designs handmade by Ronke. Love Da gave the popcorn stand a modern twist, with quirky flavours including white chocolate and salt & pepper…yum!

Thirza’s Vintage were offering everything you could possibly need for the perfectly quaint picnic-from the cutest day dresses to the floral picnic set.
As the rather Royal music began, the crowd were screaming & pointing, aching for a glimpse of Kate’s dress and of course, they were not disappointed. There were tears & cheers throughout…we may have had a lil tear! Our favourite thing about the Royal Wedding was the happiness in lil Paigey’s eyes, who now believes that she also can marry a prince and live happily ever after. In a world filled with divorce, surely that’s a lovely ideal to install in a child’s little head…happily ever after.

And of course, our favourite bit-the kiss…
Royal waves,
