Saturday, February 20th, 2010

And that means it’s time to start thinking about spring cleaning your wardrobe! So, chuck out that moth-eaten knitwear and cast aside those jeans with the saggy knees and come find all the vintage and repro treasures you’ll need for those difficult spring months fast approaching.  Now, Voyager are delighted to have  been invited to attend two vintage fairs in the next couple of weeks, will we be seeing you?

An A-Fayre To Remember

BGWMC Love A-Fayre Blog

The weekend before Valentine’s Day we found ourselves back at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club- and boy, were we pleased to be back!  It seemed everyone was in the mood for love as the club got busier and busier while we bopped away to a gentlemen played the organ onstage to get us in the mood for the burlesque that was to follow later in the afternoon.  Thank you to our friends who paid us a visit it was great to see you all, especially Ian and Ellie with little Flo and our model Laura (you’ll find the beautiful brunette modelling our clothing and accessories on here).

Once we’d settled in we took a trip round the room to visit the other stalls and it was lovely to see Lady Luck Rules OK (and get our mitts on the last of their personalised jewellery!), Be-Bop-A-Lula, Tea, Cakes and 78s and the beautiful Elisabeth (aka Miss Rose Thorne), who we might add looked DIVINE in our Collectif red fur-trimmed jacket (which will soon be added to the website).  We’d like to thank Garudio Studiage for our lovely little “flat pet” rabbit; he’s settled into the store wonderfully!  Our stall was placed next to the lovely Seaside Sisters, who in keeping with nautical theme bought a pair of our sail boat hair clips and wore them all afternoon- they looked fab!

At four o’clock Elisabeth took to the stage to compere the burlesque and whip the crowd up into a frenzy, informing the uninitiated of the rules of burlesque: the louder you cheer, the more comes off! We particularly enjoyed Ginger Blush’s fast-paced traditional routine and Princess Angelique’s Indian inspired fan dance, and of course Emerald Fontaine’s Marie Antoinette style routine which included pulling a champagne fountain and bottle from beneath her dress and showering the audience with cash procured form a pouch attached to her bustle!  After the show Princess Angelique made a beeline for our stall and stocked up on loads of our cake hair accessories and jewellery.

So, after a love-filled day we packed up and headed home for a well deserved rest before picking out Now, Voyager’s Spring/Summer range at LondonEdge the next day. We can’t wait to show the beautiful candy striped dresses and nautical playsuits we’ve handpicked for you- watch this space!

With Love From Brighton….

With love from Brighton Blog

So, we’ve finally recovered from our first tattoo convention, all we can say is we can’t wait for the next one! Yes, it was exhausting but we had so much fun and met so many great people that it was worth every minute. And it was great to see Now, Voyager get such a great reception from everyone.  We decided to use the convention to introduce some new products, including Sailor Jerry and our beautiful new Valentine’s range with includes a variety of heart shaped cake-hats and a Valentine’s variation on our trademark corsage and an abundance of rose hair clips in all different colours and sizes.

It was a great weekend for old and new faces; we loved catching up with Cam at her beautiful Bow and Crossbones stall and while we were there we couldn’t resist placing another order of her gorgeous jewellery for your delectation.  We’d also like to say congratulations to Cam and wish her good luck with the opening of her store Mrs. Miniver’s Boutique in Birmingham’s The Oasis Market.  So if you find yourself nearby, be sure to pay her a visit!  We will be taking a peek when we find ourselves in Birmingham at the Memorabilia Show on the 27th-28th March.

We also made sure we took time to pay a visit to the boys at Cult Classics, but it was only a flying visit as they too were busy beavering away, as was our good friend Naomi at the Frith Street booth.  It was good to see a few Southend girls about at the convention and it was absolutely thrilling to see lots of girls wearing their Now, Voyager hair accessories that they had bought that day at Born Bad at Komedia on the Saturday night!

We came away from Brighton with a new brand that will shortly be making an appearance on these pages, but until then you’ll have to pay us a visit in store to sample some of Old Skull’s finest in nautical style pencil skirts, candy stripe blouses and super-cute, super-short sailor shorts.

Phewww,  after all that action we packed up the car and headed back home for a much needed rest which unfortunately never came…. we had loads of preparation to do for our next event the following Sunday!  But who needs rest when the rest of the world is calling out for glamour and we’ve been appointed as the ones to provide it?  If you fancy paying us a visit at one of the many events we’re doing throughout the year, make sure you sign up to our mailing list (top right corner) and you’ll never be out of the loop.  We would like to say a massive thank you to Fliss’s sister Jess who was absolutely indispensible this weekend, she truly is our little princess. And also to Jessie, Jack and Rosa who were the consumate hosts for the weekend and were not fazed at all by us three very tired, but very excited girls.
